Ingredients

  • 500 g Bread flour or all-purpose flour (4 cups)
  • 160 ml Warm milk ⅔ cup
  • 160 ml Warm water ⅔ cup
  • 10 g Instant dry yeast 1.5 tbsp
  • 10 g Sugar 1 tbsp
  • 8 g Salt 0.8 tbsp
  • Topping optional:
  • 20 g Melted unsalted butter or olive oil
  • Chopped parsley

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing Container For mixing the dough ingredients.
  • 1 Rolling pin For flattening the dough.
  • 1 Thick Pan A heavy-bottomed skillet or cast iron pan works best for even cooking.
  • 1 Clean Cloth For covering the bread and keeping it soft during baking.

Method

  1. Combine warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast in a container and stir until well mixed.
  2. Add flour and salt to the mixture, then stir until a dough forms. Knead by hand until smooth and no longer sticky.
  3. Cover the dough and allow it to proof until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
  4. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and shape them into rounds. Cover with a plastic bag.
  5. Roll each round to a size of 18 cm in diameter, ensuring it's 5 mm thick.
  6. Heat a pan over medium heat. Place the dough rounds in the pan and cook on each side until bubbles form. flip when necessary.
  7. Once the bread puffs up like a balloon, reduce the heat to low and continue baking.
  8. Cover with a cloth to prevent drying out while baking.
  9. Brush the cooked bread with melted butter or olive oil, and top with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes
